For Mum

Everyone who quotes proverbs will quote this one about you: “Like mother like daughter.”

Ezekiel 16:44

I have made this card as a commission for a friend.  The card base and topper are from HunkyDory and the bling flower from The Hobby House and they bot add to the dimension and texture of the card.  The letters at the bottom are stickers.

Spring pastels

She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many woman do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive , and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Proverbs 31:26-31

I have used A Day for Daisies’ freebie to take today’s card.  the digi was coloured with Promarkers in Buttercup, Sunflower and Gold; Lime and Pear green; Dusky Pink and Putty for the skin.  The card was assembled using a sentiment printed out from my computer and craft stickers by .

Beautiful butterflies

Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.

Genesis 2:19

Here is a card made with Hunkydory products.  I took a sheet of backing card and cut to 5″ x 5″, it was fixed to a card blank and the corners rounded with an x-cut punch.  I fussy cut some single butterflies from the remaining piece of card and shaped the slightly before adding to the card along with the two sentiments.

Me and my laptop

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

I am using a pre-coloured digi from The Paper Shelter today. I have quite a few of their digis and they are great as they all come with a coloured version and a background.

This image is just like me: glasses, cake, coffee, loads of hair and glued to my laptop.  I have added a sentiment from Hunkydory.

Vintage feel

From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

Luke 12:48

I have used fussy cutting to make ny own traditional decoupage for this card.  All the papers used came from the saaft me paper pad, that was bought from Create and Craft some time ago.  he flowers that you see were cut from pages and positioned where I wanted them and I made my own decorative ribbon by layering strips of paper and using an X-cut punch for decoration.  The two sentiments are clear stickers and are from The Hobby House.

Promarker Colouring Tutorial – Auburn hair

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 1:7

I am sharing something a little different today as I thought I’d do a colouring tutorial.

This is a cropped image kindly provided by Mo Manning and the full version is available here.  The papers I have used are from HOTP ‘s Chocolate Dipped range.

This is the card I eventually made with the image.

2014_03_17_1

I started her hair with Honeycomb, using it to surround all the highlights. I decided where the highlights would be by looking at the curls and deciding which part of each curl would be at the front and which behind.

Image

I then layered Ginger on top, moving away from the highlight areas which are left white.

Image

The next colour to be added was Terracotta.

Image

Then Rosewood.

Image

Finally I used the broad tip to colour the whole area with Mustard.  This blends the colours and makes her highlights golden instead of white.

Image

Colours used were:

Hair: Honeycomb, Ginger, Terracotta, Rosewood, Mustard.

Skin: Blush, Sunkissed Pink, Coral, soft pink

Tee: Lime Gree, Pear Green

Challenges:
http://abc-challenge.blogspot.com.au/ – hair
http://cardsgalorechallenges.blogspot.co.uk/ – stamp or digistamp
http://countryviewchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/ – paper chase
http://craftsandmeinspiration.blogspot.co.uk/ – anything goes

This is my first attempt at a tutorial – please let me know what you think!
