My daughter’s Easter Card

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.”

John 11:25-26

I bought and coloured this Mo Manning image before I saw the edition of Making Cards Magazine where I found these perfectly matching free papers.  The bow is from Docrafts and the sentiment was from my stash.  To be honest I think she is more like me when I was little than like my daughter  – though I don’t remember wearing pink bloomers like this!

Here are today’s challenges:  – pinkyliscious – Easter – happy Easter – (Purplies) Easter – Easter – E is for easter – spring – Easter/Spring – springtime – for a child – here comes spring – Easter – spring Easter

Wishing you all a Peaceful and Happy Easter,

Promarker Colouring Tutorial – Auburn hair

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 1:7

I am sharing something a little different today as I thought I’d do a colouring tutorial.

This is a cropped image kindly provided by Mo Manning and the full version is available here.  The papers I have used are from HOTP ‘s Chocolate Dipped range.

This is the card I eventually made with the image.

I started her hair with Honeycomb, using it to surround all the highlights. I decided where the highlights would be by looking at the curls and deciding which part of each curl would be at the front and which behind.

I then layered Ginger on top, moving away from the highlight areas which are left white.

The next colour to be added was Terracotta.

Then Rosewood.

Finally I used the broad tip to colour the whole area with Mustard.  This blends the colours and makes her highlights golden instead of white.

Colours used were:

Hair: Honeycomb, Ginger, Terracotta, Rosewood, Mustard.

Skin: Blush, Sunkissed Pink, Coral, soft pink

Tee: Lime Gree, Pear Green

Challenges: – hair – stamp or digistamp – paper chase – anything goes

This is my first attempt at a tutorial – please let me know what you think!

Flowers and bling

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV

This is a card made using a Hobby House kit.  I bought this last year and have recently used the last three toppers.  I still have plenty of bling, ribbon and backing card left from the kit and can thoroughly recommend The Hobby House for value.

The topper features a Mo Manning image and apart from the card base, everything you see came in the kit.  I have edged the card with Tim Holtz Barn Door distress ink.

Challenges today are: – what a gem – make it sparkle – flowers – anything goes – florals – one for the girls – just for a girl – sentiment for a girl – image of girl or lady – spring flowers

I found the one my heart loves.

Song of Soloman 3:4

My wonderful sister is getting married in August, and as I have volunteered to make the cake, dress, invitations and thank yous and do the flowers, I have had to start early.  I have had this beautiful curvy Mo Manning bride for a whileand it was just perfect to set off the Eureka digital sentiment.  I have coloured her in coffee brown as this will be the colour of the dress.  The groom is a little incidental, though I have paid homage to his red hair!

The theme of the wedding is pink and brown and I have dressed the final 8″ x 8″ card to match.  The ribbon was an offcut in cream but I coloured it with a Promarker to match the Spellbinders corners.  I think I’d like a more blousy bow but my sister can’t stand fussy cards so I’ve toned it down to her tastes, but did slip a few pearls in!
